Random Thoughts Thursday

Halloween is in two weeks?  What?!?  Oh, man, I have to get to work on costumes!  Next year they're all going as bedsheet ghosts, I swear.

It's so great to see the world coming together over happy news.  I'm so glad those miners got out okay!

There is not enough time in a day to do everything I'd like to.  There's barely enough time to do everything I need to.  Can we slow this ride down, please?

The other day I told Ellie I'm going to miss her when she goes to school next year.  She told me it would be okay because her stuffed animals would keep me company.

I now completely understand how people can spend three straight days watching TV shows on DVD.  Lost is sucking me in, and it's probably good for my sanity that I'm not allowed to watch it without Chris, or else I'd be up all night.

I would like to know, though, where they found bottle rockets.  Who brings those on a plane?  There was something else, too...a pickax?  Something like that.  We just keep telling ourselves: willful suspension of disbelief.

I came across a quote the other day that I really like: "Faith is much better than belief. Belief is when someone else does the thinking." -R. Buckminster Fuller

Who names their child Buckminster?  Even as a middle name?  It makes me think of Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate, which makes me think of Oliver Boliver Butt. Which reminds me that Dr. Suess was awesome.

Blogger's spellcheck is suggesting "bigamist" as an alternative spelling for "buckminster".  Heh.

I would like to know why Facebook thinks I would be interested in "Buddhist Second Life".  Sometimes their ads just confuse me.

Your turn!

A bit of advice for the linky tool: please link directly to your Random Thoughts Thursday post, and not to your entire blog. To do this, simply click on the title of your post. This will take you to that post's page, and you can then copy and paste that url into the linky. This way people linking from my blog won’t have to scroll through any other posts you might put up to find your randomness. Thanks!

  1. My high school humanities teacher was OBSESSED with R. Buckminster Fuller. He created some kind of pyramid and read Anne Rand or something liek that. Something existential. I wouldn't hang out with stuffed animals. The way they stare at you is slightly menacing.

  2. I hate facebook ads, they're always dumb.

I'm glad you guys are watch Lost, that's fun. You'll soon have more questions about it than just a pickax and fireworks though... anyway, once we finished watching seasons 1-3 within 2 months and were caught up and to actually WAIT for new episodes like everybody else, we didn't know what to do with our free time anymore! "What did we used to do before we watched two episodes of Lost every day?" heh heh.

  3. I remember that teacher and his obsession with "Bucky" and his geodesic dome. Peace, life, and the answers to the universe are in the design of the dome or something like that. Just so you know.
