Random Thoughts Thursday

Thanks for all the birthday comments! It made my day (and the next one, and the next one...)

Ellie informed me this morning that pull-ups aren't magical, but her sparkly jeans are.

We have (and have always had) a rule about toys in Mom & Dad's room: they are not allowed. So why does it appear that the Legos are slowly taking over?

Each year since 2004 we've sent Chris on a treasure hunt for his birthday presents. I write the clues in rhyming couplets. It is really cheesy and also totally awesome. He's in California this week, so we didn't get to do it on his actual birthday (yesterday - yes, we're back-to-back and he married an older woman), but he'll get a fun surprise when he gets back. My creativity in hiding places and my rhyming skills (or would that be skillz?) get better every year.

I think I need to post more pictures of the girls. It's been all about me lately.
I wish I could sleep that soundly.

I just like the personality in this picture.

And this one.

I'm this close to joining Facebook. Give me three good reasons why I shouldn't. Okay, give me two.

Why can't I find cute denim capris in my size? Or shorts, for that matter?

Yesterday I borrowed my friend's Twilight DVD and watched all the special features on disc 2 while I "folded laundry". The rabid screaming fans in the Comic Con Phenomenon bit (what is Comic Con, anyway?) kind of scare me.

Half of my kitchen is clean, the half you can see as you walk in. The other half...well, just don't turn around if you walk into my kitchen. Organization is so not my middle name.

Is it wrong that I want the stuffed elephant Vicki got as a Girl Scout Cookie sales prize for myself? He's so cute and fluffy and floppy and soft.

I can't wait to "fold laundry" tonight while eating the Udderly Chocolate ice cream I bought for my birthday. Mmmmmmm...best. ice cream. ever.

  1. Reasons not to join Facebook

1 - don't you really keep in touch with most of the people you want to keep in touch with?

2 - You don't have the time to get sucked into one more internet time consuming vortex.

(These might not apply to you, but they are the ones I use.)

  2. PPS -- I really like the pictures of your girls. They really are growing up fast for those of us who don't get to see them very often.

  4. What's in Cali for Chris?
Facebook is awesome. Time consuming, but awesome.
You don't have to choose any stupid templates or backgrounds and feel judged by them. There, I said it- I'm insecure about my blog backgrounds.

  5. I think you should join facebook... sorry. And about the elephant...is it his the same one you were complaining about at the church last night?? The truth comes out. you didn't put up a big fuss about her bringing in because you KNEW that you would end up having to cuddle...i mean hold it for her...

  6. Make sure you watch Twilight with the commentary. It's awesome! Comic Con is a convention that centers around comic books (or graphic novels, as the grown-up comic book readers like to call them so they can pretend they are reading books). However, lately, Comic Con has become a place to promote movies that have a significant pop culture status. I'm not really into comic books, but I hear you don't really need to be to enjoy the Cons.
Just join Facebook already. If you don't like it, then don't use it. I will be your first friend and help you find others. And, you can still do your main blog posts on your fab blog and then link from FB. That will actually get you a lot more traffic on your blog. John will post an update on his FB page that he has posted to the blog.
As for the person visiting from Australia, could it be Kylie Seymour? Are you in touch with her?

  9. Ha ha ha....if you were wondering about joining Facebook watch last weeks episode of "My Boys" on TBS and then decide. It totally depicts Facebook to a "T". I actually joined but don't use it half as much as my hubby or my hubby's family. Honestly I think half of it is just a waste of time. But you can find some long lost friends on there. (= I love the pictures of your girls. You can tell they have great personalities. One day I would like to actually meet them. (= We were thinking about a road trip to Oregon this summer, you going to be around?
